Rosalyn’s story

Inspiring dreams

I was still just crawling at the age of three when I was welcomed into a YMCA child care centre. Even though cerebral palsy had slowed me down, I never let it stop me. With support and encouragement from the Y staff, I gradually learned to walk and then run just like my peers.

This experience inspired me to become an early childhood educator and return to the Y as a child care volunteer. Throughout the years I’ve always been accepted at the Y.

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is a fundraising campaign which seeks to raise money to support kids and youth who need Y financial assistance. At the YMCA, we believe that everyone should be able to participate in our programs regardless of their ability to pay the fees. We focus on providing children and their families with the tools they need to succeed in life.
