Connecting Families
I was new to Oakville when I had my second child. I wasn’t confident in my parenting skills, didn’t have many friends here and I was at home with a two-year-old and an infant. When my husband returned to work, I was terrified! Then I found the free community Steps & Stages program at the YMCA.
I was so welcomed by staff, volunteers and other parents, I came back every week. The YMCA helped me make connections with other parents, connect with my sons and develop confidence in my parenting abilities.
When I see my two-and-a-half-year-old son grow and develop into an interesting and confident little person, it warms my heart and fills me with happiness. I feel indebted to the YMCA for helping me create a strong and solid relationship with my two boys.

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is a fundraising campaign which seeks to raise money to support kids and youth who need Y financial assistance. At the YMCA, we believe that everyone should be able to participate in our programs regardless of their ability to pay the fees. We focus on providing children and their families with the tools they need to succeed in life.
